BROOKLYN, NY — August 7, 2025 — Novele, the intelligent energy technology company transforming buildings into intelligent energy assets, has been selected as one of five climate technology leaders to participate in the Resilient Energy Studio, a pioneering initiative led by the NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), Newlab, FDNY, and NYC Department of Buildings (DOB).
As part of the program, Novele will deploy its EnergyBoard and BoardOS software platform at the Brooklyn Navy Yard; marking one of the first-ever permitted indoor, building-scale energy storage systems in New York City. The installation represents a critical step forward in proving that advanced energy storage can be safe, scalable, and seamlessly integrated into urban environments.
The Resilient Energy Studio is a flagship element of NYC’s Green Economy Action Plan and PlaNYC strategy, designed to accelerate climate innovation and regulatory clarity for technologies that decarbonize the built environment.
“We’re excited to welcome Novele to the Resilient Energy Studio as a company pushing the boundaries of what intelligent, distributed energy infrastructure can look like in New York City,” said Sydnee Grushack, Senior Director of Advisory at Newlab. “Their technology aligns with our mission to accelerate climate innovation that’s not only visionary, but safe, scalable, and grounded in the realities of the urban built environment. Novele’s AI-powered platform and modular storage design offer a strong example of how the City’s buildings can play an active role in grid resilience and decarbonization.”
“New York City is one of the most demanding proving grounds for energy infrastructure in the world.” Said Charles Conwell, CEO and Co-founder of Novele. “Participating in the Resilient Energy Studio gives us the opportunity to showcase our AI-powered platform; capable of reshaping real-time load profiles across entire buildings, while proving that Novele’s technology meets the highest bar for safety. Novele’s EnergyBoard is purpose-built for the dynamic, distributed demands of urban environments. We’re proud to help define the future of energy inside the built environment, including here at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.”
This milestone follows completion of successful large-scale fire tests including a standard-setting new test for wall-mounted batteries and represents a foundational step in the company’s 2025 rollout of grid-responsive energy storage across New York’s commercial and institutional real estate.

About Novele
Novele is reimagining the role of buildings in the energy ecosystem. Our goal is to create a built environment that doesn’t just consume power, but instead optimizes, stores, and responds in real time. We’re turning commercial real estate into a dynamic, intelligent layer of the grid. At the heart of our platform is the Novele EnergyBoard; a modular, ultra-distributed energy storage system embedded with advanced controls, compute, and machine learning. It installs in hours, requires no infrastructure overhaul, and delivers measurable improvements in efficiency, emissions, and uptime. With teams in New York and Irvine, our backgrounds span AI, grid integration, real estate and advanced hardware. As a team, what drives us is to build the connective tissue of a more flexible, secure, and sustainable energy future.
